Intro to Musical Theatre Showcase
Intro to Musical Theatre Showcase - MTOC Studio’s Musical Theatre Showcase is a course designed to provide any level of singer/actor with an intensive performance experience in an encouraging and supportive learning environment. Each artist will train extensively in voice, acting and movement over 10 sessions in preparation for a final performance which will consist of a showcase for friends and family. Students will learn group songs for the Musical Theatre Showcase on November 18th.

Musical Theatre Showcase
MTOC Studio’s Musical Theatre Showcase is a course designed to provide any level of singer/actor with an intensive performance experience in an encouraging and supportive learning environment. Each artist will train extensively in voice, acting and movement over 10 sessions in preparation for a final performance which will consist of a showcase for friends and family. Each student will work on a full class group number, as well learn a duet or trio with other students. Students will perform in MTOC Studio Showcase on November 18th.

A Capella Group
This class is a fun opportunity for students to discover how to harmonize in a group setting without accompaniment. We will work on vocal strength, blending, and breathing while learning a variety of musical styles. After the 10 class sessions, the group will have the opportunity to perform in the MTOC Showcase on November 18th.

Improv/Theatre Games
Improvisation is one of the most useful skills in any actor’s toolbox! Come learn the foundational elements of improv acting in this supportive and hilariously fun class! Explore the who, what and where of building simple improv scenes from scratch and develop skills in creativity, listening, and thinking on your toes. This 8-week course is capped off with a short-form improv show for friends and family on November 15th!

***November 15th class time will be 6:10-8:12 for the combined improv show***

Acting I
This acting class for beginners will teach the basics of creating full characters in a fun and relaxed environment. Through theater games, exercises and short scripted scenes, students will develop confidence, energy, and focus on the stage.

Acting II
Take your acting to the next level with scenework and in-depth character exploration. In addition to focused acting work, this class will speak directly to young actors looking to be professionals with audition techniques and advice on the business of entertainment.

Basics of Puppetry
In this class we will learn all the basics of puppetry techniques (including lip-sync, eye focus, movement, acting, scene work and characterization) using real puppets. Students will have the opportunity to learn what it takes to be a puppeteer, using puppets similar to the ones used in Avenue Q and The Muppets. Techniques learned here are directly applicable to stage performances, such as those seen in MTOC’s summer production of “The Little Mermaid”.  Students will have the opportunity for perform in the MTOC Showcase on November 18th.

Intermediate Puppetry
In this class we will expand upon the basics techniques of puppetry (including lip-sync, eye focus, movement, acting, scene work and characterization), as well as exploring other types of puppetry, using real puppets. It is recommended that students in this class have attended the basic class, or have experience with puppetry.
